Local Shrimp

Submitted by srosen
Soumbedioune fish market
Marche Artisanal de Soumbedioune, Dakar, Senegal

Make sure to arrive at Soumbedioune at around 5:30PM to witness the pirogues landing on the beach to unveil the daily catch. I bought these fresh shrimp from the first row on your right as you enter facing the ocean. The price was about $6 (half kilo) and another $2 to have a woman grill them up and plate them with fresh onions and mustard. Simply amazing and enough to share with any local friends nearby.
