Bunny Chow Submitted by: eblech
North Beach, Durban

Bunny chow is Durban's answer to street eats and perhaps the most well known local dish there. Think half a loaf of white bread, hollowed out and filled with delicious curry. The 'bunnies' we tried were filled with a spicy lamb curry and served to us by sari-clad women on the beach front. A large Indian immigrant community live in Durban. We were in Durban for the World Cup, having a great time despite our team's (the Socceroos) less than specactular performance. We ate our bunny chows from a street stall along North Beach (across from Snell Parade, I think). I believe they are a regular feature there. Lekker!
