The Real Bali Submitted by: eblechMy husband and I recently were in Bali for a 2-day layover. To fill in some time we signed on to "The Real Bali" cycling tour of the villages around Ubud. The tour was fun, but the highlight was the traditional Balinese banquet served to us at the end of the tour. An array of delicious dishes were served up, including nasi goreng (fried rice), mee goreng (fried noodles), gado-gado (stirfried vegetables with peanut sauce), satays, smoked duck and chicken, fried tempeh and tofu. Fresh tropical fruits were served to finish. We found it harder than expected to source local cuisine in Bali, so this banquet was a pleasant surprise.
