Chelsea Physic Garden Submitted by: mitchellThe random tour of Chelsea Physic Garden for homemade lavender scones turned out to be a rather interesting ingredient lesson. The convenience of supermarket shopping means most of us haven’t seen our daily foods in their most original form. I’ll detail the delicious lavender scones in my next post, where the cafe called Tangerine Dream Cafe had some of the best cakes I’ve ever tasted and seen. Before that, let me detail some of the histories of Chelsea Physic Garden. Situated next to the Royal Hospital in Chelsea, it has around 5000 varieties of edible and medical plants. Originally built in 1673 by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries to train apprentices in identifying plants and is the oldest Botanic gardens in the UK. The garden was later acquired by Dr. Hans Sloane, who Sloane Square was named after. It’s not until 1983 the garden started to open to public. It’s a relatively small garden that takes about 30 minutes to walk through. On a sunny day, the locals love to sit on the grass and enjoy the view of beautiful flowers and the delicious cakes from Tangerine Dream Cafe. Thoroughly worth a visit!
