Frascati DOC Submitted by: dominiquelettiere
Frascati

I discovered the Frascati DOC white wine in 2011 shortly after meeting my now-husband whose family makes the wine. This wine is crisp and bright and refreshing and every time it starts to heat up in the Rome area I get an aching for a big glass of the bright yellow elixir. The aroma is delicate and in Italian they say it's smell is vinoso which means that it smells like the cellar during the winemaking process which is a romantic picture for me. The taste is different from any wine I have had; it's not oaky or fruity but tart and with this mineral quality that it gets from the volcanic soil in this area. I love Frascati DOC wine with a big plate of fried calamari or even with porchetta and pizza bianca. I've become so smitten with our wine that I've stared a wine tour of my in-law's vineyard and cellar in the hopes of introducing as many people as possible to both Frascati (which I believe is one of the last unspoiled areas in Italy) and to its wine. If anyone is interested our website is www.theoldminardifarmhouse.com Thanks!!!
