I ate a WITCHEDY GRUB!!!! What might that be? In the Australian Outback, which is mostly desert, it is very hot and very buggy. The Aborigines, native Australians, call it home. While on a tour we were listening to the park ranger talk about the food that is available in that desolate place. He picked up a log off the ground and pointed to a small bump. He massaged the bump with his fingers and out crawled this small, hairy, worm-like creature. At four inches in length it represented a source of protein for the indigenous people. I asked him if it was dangerous to eat it while it was still alive. He said "no worries," so I took it from his palm and opened my mouth and it slid right down.
For days afterward people on the tour asked me how I felt and if the grub had left my body. I felt just fine and truthfully I had never looked!
So if you find yourself in the Outback and you get some hunger pains, look for a bump on a log and you too can eat a witchedy grub.
