DANCE
Clearly, you’re going to dance those arepas off! While the trendy (and pricey) wall-top, Ibiza-esque Café del Mar (Baluarte de Santo Domingo, map) is certainly worth checking out (especially at sunset), the bar’s equivalent in the Getsemaní part of town, Casa de la Cerveza (Baluarte San Lorenzo del Reducto, map), is even better—still chic and breezy, but more casual and dance-friendly, with the bonus of sublime views of the lit-up Castillo de San Felipe in the near distance. Another fun option within Cartagena’s old town is Donde Fidel (Plaza de los Coches 32-09, map), a small salsa bar with outside seating for when you’re ready to rest.
No Latin moves? Check out Crazy Salsa’s class schedule of merengue, bachata, vallenato, and, of course, salsa. Open classes start at 20,000 COP ($10).
WALK
Don’t worry if you have two left feet: Cartagena is highly walkable. Strolling along the tops of the ancient stone walls and below the balconies that line the quaint calles is one of the simplest joys of this city.
