Australians visit for Jazz Fest and Food Submitted by: andrewmckJust arrived back in Australia after 5 amazing days in New Orleans, visited many of the EYW recommendations. Went to last 2 days of Jazz Fest, which was incredible, saw Bruce Springsteen, John Fogarty, Aaron Neville, Arcade Fire plus many more... Overall food experience far exceeded expectations. The highlight was a private Creole cooking class at The New Orleans Cooking Experience. Eight friends, one chef, four courses plus beer and wine. Food prepared in front of you with some hands-on participation, then served in private dining room. Highly recommended to any visitors to New Orleans. Other food highlights included breakfast at Ruby's Slipper. Get there early, as there was a queue at the door and a 30-minute wait when we visited, but worth the wait. K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen for a fine dining with Creole classics. Music highlights (apart from Jazz Fest) included the Spotted Cat, but the surprise music venue was The Alibi Bar just off Bourbon St. Small bar, but great music until very late.
