Sukuti

Submitted by lsr
Dhaulagiri Kitchen
37-38 72nd St., Jackson Heights, Queens

In the heavily Himalayan 'hood of Jackson Heights, food from Nepal, like this sukuti, has become the new "local food." Sukuti is air-dried meat jerky; this wonderful shoebox of an eatery usu offers it as beef, buffalo or goat. The meat is stewed in a spicy chile sauce that's pretty addictive. It goes well with fresh sel roti, a rice donut of sort.
