Granadilla

Granadilla

What: A type of sweet passionfruit, high in vitamins A and C, with an orange and hollow-feeling exterior that conceals sweet, crunchy seeds encased in a soft, gooey pulp—one of Colombia’s many unique, delicious fruits. To eat, stick both your thumbs into the center of its shell and break it open. A spoon is helpful to scoop out the pulp, or just gulp it out. Some people don’t like its texture; we love it. And it’s fun to eat.

Where: On the street, in markets. (We got ours from a supermarket in Bogotá.)
